The narrative about this election from mainstream media and the DeSantoids (but I repeat myself) is completely moronic. The Canadian Cons peaked at 42% and ended up getting… 41.4% of the vote.

The LPC “surge” was just NDP voters falling into line - i.e. very left voters voting tactically for the merely left party. And it takes literally ten seconds examining a polling trend chart to realize that.

The CPC has spent the last 25 years pandering to abortionists, the LGBT lobby, and Khalistanis, and look what that’s gotten them. Absolutely nothing. This is why the GOP should never moderate on social issues. We won’t win any new voters, it’ll just shift the Overton Window to the left.

The housing crisis is apocalyptic in Canada and only goes to show that things getting bad doesn't in fact wake up the normies. Things just get worse when they get worse

Poilievre wasn't hostile to Trump until Trump started making him lose the election. On his interview with Jordan Peterson he was extremely complimentary to Trump and talked about working with him on the basis of shared values. Even when the trade war was first initiated, he wasn't hostile to Trump and instead spoke of getting Canada to meet its NATO obligations to placate Trump. Only after Trump made it clear that he wanted to annex Canada did Poilievre become anti-Trump.

France and Germany are irrelevant to America. They're an ocean away and have no influence over the USA. Canada is the USA's largest trade partner and has relevance for the growing interest in arctic security.

The Conservatives are basically blue state Republicans, not Democrats. Poilievre himself is basically a Canadian DeSantis--not Trump but more ideological than his predecessors.
