I get asked a lot about book recommendations, particularly on American history. Most people in this country have a poor understanding of our nation’s history. People struggle to remember who we declared independence from and barely know our past presidents. What little they know comes from Hollywood and dimly-remembered primary school lessons.

People on our side are hungry for knowledge, so it’s imperative to gain some basic knowledge about our past.

This is not meant to be an exhaustive list. It’s just books I believe will make the reader understand American history, politics, and society. Most of the works here are academic fare. This is not meant to be a list filled with dissident titles.

Personally, I think it’s better for people to read history rather than polemics or the standard “BASED” literature. A lot of that stuff is out of date and has little relevance to what’s going on today. Much of it is more likely to induce autism than wisdom. People really just need to understand a few basic things, such as knowing diversity and mass immigration are bad. They don’t need to learn about how the West began its decline with the advent of nominalism.

With that in mind, here’s my list of books to help you learn about American history.
