American pro sports leagues hate conservatives. The World Cup is a fascinating mix of nationalism and globalism. Hope Europeans learn the right lessons after seeing the real America instead of their media's propaganda: https://yuribezmenov.substack.com/p/european-world-cup-fans-letter

They also get to vicarious live through the various sports teams instead of having interesting hobbies themselves, so that also might be a factor.

This is nerd cope. The "interesting hobbies" of the anti-sportsball crowd you mention here usually involve nothing more than posting online, watching pornography, and playing video games.

Hardcore leftist males have adopted some strange forms of masculinity to compensate for the unmasculine things they have to go along with and put up with as a card carrying leftist. For instance, they have to stay up on the latest positional/argument trends on their side and they are ready to trounce on any comment section, epic reddit style, with the smarmiest, most condescending take you've ever seen. These people are the reason every book title at the airport has the f word in it - because it's epic hardcore. Sports are just one more thing that is currently fashionable to adopt and signal to the in-group. Did any of them play AAU basketball? No.

Interesting take. Now that I think about it, you’re right. Shitlib nerd types liking basketball, especially, has long been a sign of their imagined identification with blacks and so their superiority over other, less cultured whites. This is a different take I came across, focusing on how soccer, at least in America, is the preferred sport of the kinds of lovely people that enable the more radical Left: https://amgreatness.com/2026/06/11/soccer-the-preferred-sport-of-the-credentialed-progressive-elite/

Leftists love the league because they represent the centralized power they love to wield over the people of America. Rightists love the athletes because they represent the values Americans hold dear, usually a mix of faith, family, grit, hard work, and sacrifice. In recent memory we have Jaxon Willits of OU, The Mens Hockey Team, the 3 Giants pitchers, and some of the members of the Mens soccer team.

Nailed it. I've never been a sports ball fan (I've tried) but I enjoy playing said sports.

Even in my younger years when I played basketball, I always saw the players as something to emulate in terms of virtue as opposed to caring about their stats or whatever

If I may, I think the "Knicks Craze" is really just a reaction to all that very widespread and reasonable criticism of multiculturalism and democrat-controlled cities. Leftists have gotten quite a lot of pushback in recent years, so they only way they can provide a narrative of happy-go-lucky multi-culti city unity is through pro sports - normiecons have said this for decades, but now the left is just catching onto it. It really is the only civic unifier left.

So the "Knicks" is really just hopium for the left. It will probably work for a while...until we get enough Indians and equatorials here that the two top sports are soccer and cricket.

Fantasy sports leagues brought nerds who were never fans of sports before into it which then lead the way to leftists taking things over. Then the marketing and social media teams of the teams and leagues were taken over by leftists straight out of college who only pander to their own leftist interests. This chases more right wingers away and brings in more leftists. The same thing has happened in movie and entertainment marketing.

Most sports journalists are leftists who wanted to be '"real" journalists but sports writing was all they could get. They spend their time writing about political issues under the guise of sports because they don't really care about sports. The same thing has happened in entertainment and video game journalism.

Good article. I've been noticing this for a while and it would always baffle me when I'd run into a liberal sports fan. It never made sense.

The Knicks craze seems to be a combination of Afrolatry (black sport, black team) with NYC being emblematic of multi-ethnic immigrant America in opposition to White Trump country.

In any case, I stand firmly by my stance that racially conscious Whites shouldn't support pro sports at all.

I grew up in a baseball-crazed city, and liking the local sportsball club was bipartisan. I never thought sportsball was a rightist thing. More rightists gravitated to football, and a lot of avowed leftists didn't follow sports at all, but I didn't get the idea it was stark.

After all, sports has been pretty multi-cultural for 70 years.
