Now a billion dollar movie just comes and goes like Deadpool 3 and if you don't care about movies there's a ton of media options that you can be into that won't be about that at all. A middlebrow mid budget, moderate success oscar movie today isn't going to be a plot point on Seinfeld because Seinfeld (big beloved sitcoms) aren't a thing anymore.
I would say if anything, the obsession didn't go far enough. The movie would be drab and depressing even if it was true to the spirit of the original poem. It is truly one of the most awful depressing things ever made. Not enough bad can be said about it. I don't know what kind of primo weed Greer is smoking, but I don't think I'd ever be high enough to think the action in this film actually looked good. I think I just am put off by intrusive Band Aid solutions (and who knows what else Flock plans with the data) to issues that can be fixed fairly easily.
The real problem is soft on crime policies which somehow remain popular. For example, making examples out of participants in so-called Teen Takeovers or shoplifting would be fairly easy given all the existing video on social media or store cameras, but no one does anything.
