Notice how quite all the usual commenters are, people like Otmar who claim H-1bs are through the roof.

Great article. Whenever Cato is panicking you know the Trump admin is doing the right thing. Patrick Casey also did a great segment on this in his most recent episode of Restoring Order: https://www.patrickcasey.com/p/how-trump-has-reduced-legal-immigration

“Left complains = right is winning” gotta be one the most low-iq rightoid tropes ever

Considering the American Left is openly and proudly committing genocide, it is a major win whenever they are forced to go on the defensive on anything or complain about anything. The American Left has lists like this on a wall in the center of the office of their major Soros funded NGO executives: https://x.com/AuronMacintyre/status/2047158463998955846 . The American Left's handwritten lists look like something out of Germany during WWII.

It's hardly noticed because Trump did other attention-grabbing things like tariffs and starting a war which are guaranteed to loudly detract from your record.

Some things are just Trump's fault. At some point, perception and reality converge.

I think it has less to do with tariffs and the war and more to do with the fact that all these executive orders, changes to rules, etc. don't typically make headlines as opposed to if the RAISE act were passed by the Congress

Trump started another fucking war despite promising not to and cost of living is out of control.

But Cato is mad so it is worth it I guess.

All of this is good (although “proposes” and “plans” does not sound promising) especially pay increase and 100k threshold being mandatory for hiring a foreigner. But that does not cancel out the millions that Biden brought and that Trump refuses to get out because muh optics or “industry needs them” or whatever. It’s just half measures, which is what people have a problem with. And if you think anything beyond half measures is not fair to expect from an admin that got elected on most anti-immigrant campaign in 50 years then that thinking just logically entails one must accept America is doomed, at least in terms of demographics, because thats just what the numbers say (you can keep repeating the “yall are just addicted to losing or being betrayed” non-argument cope tho). Also iirc there is a gigantic green card backlog, mostly from H1B, so reducing overall amount of new H1B visas issued won’t do much when there is still the same amount of people getting a green card. To summarize, I am not critizing anything thats being done, but highlighting that its pulling water out of a sinking ship using a teacup

H1B is a completely different visa category than green cards...

"you said there was a green card backlog, mostly from H1B" those two are unrelated
