The term you were trying to think of ("identitarian-lite") is called Civic Nationalism.
That was the big divide among the New Right for a long time, whether you were a civic nationalist or an identitarian (ethno-) nationalist.
Now many on the Left have adopted civic nationalism (Matt Taibbi types) while others remain in the progressive hothouse. The only thing the progressives and left-civnats have in common is they both recoil from the word "nationalism" and most certainly purge any notions of white nationalism. But Matt Taibbi types certainly do understand the value of borders and a shared culture.
Right-civnats are patriotic Boomers and much of the MAGAsphere and Rumblesphere.
