Some ideas: A lot of the authentic country artists come from the punk scene or feel like outsiders. I think a lot of their fans are more liberal than pop country fans. Generally, people who are really into music and go out of their way to find non-mainstream music are going to lean left. Conservatives are generally more into sports and what plays on the radio. They're conventional people
