And the case is total BS - criminalizing Trump's first-amendment protected speech, and challenging an obviously stolen election. Besides, the Dems have challenged every single election they lost, including trying to get faithless electors. As you said it will hurt him as much as the impeachments which is zero. And appeals will keep him out of jail until after the election even if convicted.
And as far as Trump dropping out in exchange for a pardon, there are a couple problems with this. First, it's laughable that Ron Desantis, Vivek, or any of the other losers can win in the rust belt. They would lose worse that Romney or McCain, as only Trump can bring out the low-propensity working class voters (that will stay home for a globalist free-trade, open-borders Republican like they did in 2008 and 2012). And no matter how decrepit Biden is, the dems are going to harvest 85-90 million mail-in votes for him (just like they did for the vegetable Fetterman). The turnout that Trump generates is the only way to compete with this. And second, can Trump really trust Desantis or Vivek not to double-cross him on a pardon? The only way out for Trump is through.
