I have upped my chances of nationwide chimp out from 20% to 30% but still stand by my years old assertion that the left shot its wad in 2020 and will continue running out of steam for a generation

The Latino vote has become very regional. 58% of Florida Latinos voted Republican in 2024. 55% of Texas Latinos voted Republican in 2024. Trump won 12 of 14 border counties in Texas, and even surged with Latinos in Harris County (Houston) and Miami-Dade County. Texas and Florida Latinos are much more conservative than California Latinos. Only 22% of California Latinos voted for Trump while 75% of California Latinos voted for Kamala. That is a massive regional difference of between 36 and 33 points when comparing Florida/Texas Latinos to California Latinos. This is different than the black vote that has no regional differences with black voters voting between 88-93% for Democrats. Almost no difference in the black vote by region of the country.

as you’re probably aware, “Latino” is not a very precise term - some Cuban exile criollo has basically nothing in common with a Mexican mesoindian except that they both speak Spanish and both are put in the same census category

I haven’t seen a good breakout of what demographic factors correlate to which Latino voting tendency in the US, but if it’s anything like LatAm, the whiter you are the more rightist you vote, and Mexico is itself an oddly leftist outlier even by LatAm standards - national Left parties won 70% of the vote last election

Eugenics is always a bad thing, messing with God's creation of a life for parents. IVF is also terrible as many fertilized embryos are discarded in the process to get one baby

The reason some on the right seem itching for more riots is because of a reason you touched on: a lot of them embarrassed themselves in the summer of 2020, either by supporting BLM or being too intimidated to be against them. They know that and regret it, so they want a mulligan. They want another shot at that type of environment so they can show everyone this time they’re on the “based” side. As you said, that environment was really bad and we shouldn’t want it again.

“Why would rightists want more riots?”

Given demographic trends that are now too far gone to reverse, the only future for my preferred politics is the core American people realizing its interests do not align with the American state’s. The sooner that happens the better. If riots accelerate that realization, all to the good.

I was surprised Scott was surprised by this! For a lot of right-wingers opposing the riots gave them purpose because it felt like a real threat
