I don't agree that white-black race relations are arguable better than ever. Perhaps they aren't as bad as they had been in the 2010's but IMO they've never been good or harmonious. Blacks still commit 550K violent crimes against whites on an annual basis and many of those crimes are motivated by racial hatred. And for the white people who claim to believe race relations are good they are also the ones who make sure to pick a neighborhood and living space that is no less than 85% white.
If race relations are so good then why do whites and blacks stand on opposing sides every time there is an incident involving a black and white? Carmelo Anthony stabbing a white high school athlete at a Texas track meet is the latest example and blacks made the Anthony family millionaires with some stating that they were glad the white kid was dead. But yeah, race relations are wonderful.
If the majority of whites truly don't care about race then whites in America will disappear by the close of this century or likely sooner as polling shows that all non-white races do place a premium on racial identity while whites do not.
These relations have always been like this. The difference is that we have significantly lower crime today than 20 years ago, and certainly far fewer than 40 years ago. The 550k figure needs a citation as that would mean more than half the violent crime in America is black-on-white (it's not).
The article doesn't say race relations are wonderful. It says they're better than the time people imagine as the post-racial utopia.
I will refer you to "The Color of Crime" by American Renaissance which breaks down the FBI crime data. It shows a shocking disparity in non-white on white violent crimes. You can also review the latest FBI crime data although with 1/3 of cities failing to report as of 2023-2024 it may be incomplete.
Race relations can easily sour like they have in the past. It doesn't take much to set blacks and whites against each other and integration has been a total failure and has not resulted in racial amity and understanding. Familiarity breeds contempt that is true in the case of whites and blacks.
I am a big fan of you Scott and believe you are the best political commentator in US, but I believe you completely missed the mark with this article. Especially in the aftermath of Karmelo Anthony, Iryna Zarutska, and the crime surge of the early 2020s. While I agree that homicide data is very good right now, the violent crime numbers are incorrect because Soros backed DAs and judges are refusing to prosecute crime. Comparing modern violent crime data to the old data from the broken windows era is like apples to oranges. Also almost half of the jurisdictions in the US do not report crime data. The DAs and judges are releasing repeat violent offenders on multiple bonds, and then refusing the prosecute during the trial phase when most of the violent offenders harm another victim while out on bond. Many Soros DAs and judges are giving plea deals and pre-trial diversion. Those deals for pre-trial diversion for violent crimes, or the Soros DAs completely dismissing the violent crime charges do not show up in the crime data. Over 80% of Americans believe crime is still a major problem in big cities and large metro areas according to a AP poll, including a supermajority of Democrats. Also in extremely large online groups in the South there was massive support for Karmelo Anthony killing Austin Metcalf, Decarlos Brown killing Iryna Zarutska, and even support for the City of Houston official celebrating the death of White children at Camp Mystic. With all due respect your article sounds tone deaf, and like it was written by someone who lives in Montana, Idaho, Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Wyoming, or Utah.
All of what you said was true just a few years ago. It's no longer true. Murder is the one crime they can't hide and it reached a 100-year low in the country last year and it's on pace to get even lower this year. I live near two of the most crime-ridden cities in the country and I can assure crime has gone down there compared to 2021. DC is still a bit rougher than it was in say 2017 but it's nowhere near as bad as it was in the 90s.
Karmelo Anthony and Iryna Zarutska happened all the time in years past. What's different is that we're able to make black-on-white murders national news, which wasn't the case a decade ago.
If you polled Americans at any point over the last 60 years, at least 80 percent would say crime is a problem in our cities. That same poll you cite shows concerns about crime have declined since 2023.
It’s not amazing but it’s probably at like 2000s/early 2010s levels between blacks and whites which is fine, if not late 90s levels
Issue rn is immigrants vs natives in general which obviously wasn’t an issue to the same degree back in those days cause there weren’t as many recent immigrants in the country. And that isn’t as clearly racial as there are a lot of Hispanics and Asians/etc, who don’t like the very newest Hispanics and Asians/etc.
Race relations are still bad it's just that white people are less likely to get caught up in anti white stuff any more. After Rodney King and OJ there was a moment of reflection and comedians like Harvey and Rock told the truth through comedy. The 2000s was full steam ahead with 'blacks are so cool' and race took a back seat to gay stuff and GWOT. There was a cooling off period after the 60s and there's a cooling off period now in the 2020s after Floyd. The question is will Whites fall for the next anti white race nonsense? The next King or Floyd or BLM campaign and forget about the last ones?
I always wonder if 1 Cop, now could even be Hispanic has an incident where a black man dies, could it set off again? They call Hispanics White anyway and make it all about race our disgusting media does. Our area had such a shortage of cops a 15,000 dollar signing bonus was needed to entice more people to become cops. I wonder if Whites are even still a majority of police officers right now? If one incident happens lets say in 2027, or with ICE but the victim who dies is Black. I do wonder if they will riot again?
There's been a couple of Floyd like incidents but it hasn't kicked anything off. I think Scott mentioned black males are too into gambling to give a shit now and revolutionary like actions need young men at the forefront.
They also have a super low birthrate. I think our Black population is only increasing through African immigration. Native born Black American birthrates since 2010 and beyond is like 1.3 or 1.4. The last high Black American birthrates were the late 1990's and early 2000's. This why they seem so numerous now because those kids are now adults but in 10 years far fewer Native Born Black Americans
Race relations were actually better before Trump and wokeness, i.e. pre <2017, but they're worse now. I remember those pre-2017 times when race wasn't at the forefront of every media article like it is now. Instead, the media focused on wars, the economy, and even dating and relationships. But now race is at the forefront of everything in the media. Everything is viewed through the race prism, even international conflicts. In the workplace, employees of different races were friendly with each other and now interracial interaction at work is more guarded.
I noticed that too. When that football player Damar Hamlin had a heart attack on the field, even that became a racial article, about how as a Black man they have elevated risk compared to White men. Will Smith slapping Chris Rock, two black men again with nothing to do with Whites, the media turns it into a racial referendum on Whites.
America was founded by British settlers who brought with them a distinct culture, says Huntington, including the English language, Protestant values, individualism, religious commitment, and respect for law. The waves of immigrants that later came to the United States gradually accepted these values and assimilated into America's Anglo-Protestant culture. More recently, however, our national identity has been eroded by the problems of assimilating massive numbers of primarily Hispanic immigrants and challenged by issues such as bilingualism, multiculturalism, the devaluation of citizenship, and the “denationalization” of American elites
You forgot the part when the Spanish discovered America, and everything from Florida to Montana, including Texas and California, was part of the Spanish Empire, before the Anglos.
What is your point? That because you founded the state therefore the land was gonna be yours forever? I'm sure that's what the Spanish thought as well.
It was going to stay a majority with those values. Never said it had to be perfect. The people coming in small enough numbers could assimilate to those values. 1924 law gave us that, 1965 accelerated a decline in that.
One of the best books on this topic was written by Samuel Huntington. Who Are We? The Challenges to America's National Identity. Written in 2005 it seemed to predate the struggles we now face.

It's better for our side for there to be a crime problem as it illustrates the need for our policies. But crime is significantly declining from the early 2020s. Long-term, crime will continue to decline due to demographic change, as I wrote in an article last year https://www.highly-respected.com/p/the-race-realist-reasons-for-the?utm_source=publication-search

Excellent article. As important as immigration is, I would take the current demographics if it also meant all the blacks went back to Africa.

Need to make that socially costly again. Shame them.
