It’s ok to bail on defending him, Scott. Our fortunes are not tied to this administration. That New Yorker piece should’ve reassured you of that.

You don’t have to disavow either. I’ll never do it and I don’t regret anything either. Fuck the libtards, they can choke on orange shit.

You’re right that the demise of the Empire isn’t going to happen anytime soon. It’s unfortunately more resilient than given credit for.

Our fortunes are still tied to Trump, whether people like it or not. The New Yorker article did not make an opposing argument.

Iran is run by an oligarchy of Demons. They will destroy their own citizens before they give up nuclear weapons and their deliberate choice to vaporize Israel as soon as the opportunity arises. If ever military might could be considered to be created for good Iran is an example like nothing else imaginable. We see what the theocracy is doing to its own citizens. There should be no confusion as to what the future would hold for everyone else.

"Oligarch of Demons"

What's your first language?

I wish I could speak another language besides English. Unfortunately I grew up in a time when my bilingual parents did everything they could to prevent be from becoming fluent in what their parents and they spoke.

This war is and has been always about MONEY. How many times in the past few weeks have we heard Trump saying he wants to “Take their oil “? What do you mean by TAKE? The honest answer is he wants to steal the oil. And by doing this we are stealing their money! And while we are at it Donald…how do you plan to “take the oil “ without a massive ground invasion?

They used to call Trump unhinged but what he's doing now is *really* unhinged. Can he really be that stupid, that reckless. How did he allow himself to be dragged into this disaster. The Biden foreign policy blunders like Afghanistan may well be eclipsed by this. There's some stupidity or senility evident here.

Pour one out for our fallen brother.

Look up "5th generation warfare" and try to understand how you've been defeated by it.

Strait of hormuz closure proves Peter Zeihan's point that the US no longer has enough ships in order to patrol the globe anymore

You think the Trump administration is impressive? Dirtbag Donnie is the worst president ever. What has that fucking asshole done that could even remotely be considered as impressive?

Banger post. I still think you're optimistic about the economic effects on the US, let alone the psychological damage of "finally taking off the leash" and still failing to accomplish state policy through military force. In Iraq and Vietnam, we could hide behind unproven counter-insurgency tactics poorly implemented. There's no hiding that the air force is not a Trump Card foreign policy-wise anymore.

We had more problems with our air campaign in the first Gulf War. Far more pilots shot down. It's not a new thing that we can't achieve regime change or massive goals through an air campaign alone. We learned that 35 years ago. Our air supremacy will still hold up after the conflict's end.

Iraq and Vietnam had horrific economic effects that I'm unsure this war will have. Vietnam contributed to our horrid economy of the 70s and seemed to give the USSR the upper hand in the Cold War.

Yes but the air campaign against Saddam in 1991 was also far more successful and limited the Iraqi ability to project force strategically. It also fundamentally crippled the Iraqi command and control when it did come time to utilize the ground invasion. The Iran campaign has succeeded at neither, largely owing to a much more conservative posture by using standoff munitions (with some exceptions). We have fewer losses, but also far less effect.

As far as the economic effects, the impact of Iraq and Vietnam on the US economy seem to indicate that the global economic disruption caused by Iran will have that much greater effects on the US. Inflation from losing the petrodollar use in the Strait of Hormuz combined with higher energy prices (whether or not the Strait stays closed) is just the tip of the iceberg. The US will maintain its status as sole superpower, but the integrity of our global reach will be significantly degraded as a result.

Scott Greer unfortunately has little faith in The God of Israel! Iran will be swept away and you'll be looking very stupid!

The US needs to develop technology that makes it cheaper and more efficient to shoot down drones and missiles. That kind of advantage might not have made a huge difference in this war but it would certainly help. Ultimately the Iranian regime seems to be happy to engage in total war. That isn't an opponent worth taking on.
