Lest we give the young people too much credit, we whould remember that they are woefully ignorant, pathetically educated but also puffed up with inflated ideas of their own brilliance becaause their teachers have saturated them with assurances that they are "the most educated generation in history."

The same silly but flattering idea has been used to seduce people into believing what the System "teaches" them for generations. I heard it back in the 1960s but had sense enough to recognize it for the con game it was.

Most young people pick their political and ideological preferences the same way a woman picks out her Gucci handbag in the clothing store.

They don't really know what "socialism" is. It just sounds hp and cool so they become "socialists."

The PMC is moving left because the right has figured out they don't need "managers" to approve their vacation requests, their computers can approve them. The PMC has no place to go but the left. Only the left needs apparatchiks to turn the levers of of the slow lumbering society they left hopes to keep in place.

Smart PMCs should be looking at trade schools! More money but less status. I suspect most PMCs would prefer other people paying for their drinks rather than earn enough money doing real jobs that don't have the status.

It's all about where the PMCs can find work where their lackeys will kowtow to them!

Scott - my town borders a "Super Zip". Like the other very affluent towns in my county, it has trended Democratic over the last decade+ and a majority voted for Harris in the last election. These are all people who went to good universities, moved to NYC/Hoboken/Jersey City after college and then moved to the suburbs in their late 20s/early 30s once they had kids. They now support Pride Month (which used to be a very city-only type of thing). However, they certainly DO NOT want socialism as you mentioned. They actually don't mind high property taxes as they know that these taxes go directly to the school system and stay (mostly) within their town. However, as much as they will superficially complain about the GOP cutting Medicaid, they don't really mind. A moderate Democrat like Josh Gottheimer is their ideal candidate.

"Most importantly, the Yuccies make less money than the Yuppies. Even though the Yuccies live an odd lifestyle, choose less lucrative careers, and work less hard, they expect to have the same economic security as the Yuppies."

I don't think todays Yuccies expect the same economic security as Yuppies. I do think they expect to get by like past generations of NYC Yuccies. Paraphrasing Jesus (Matthew 26:11), "the poor Yuccies you will always have with you, but you will not always have NYC rents they can afford." Yuccies have existed in NYC forever, but the affordability situation (which has always sucked) is worsening. So they protest vote for an alternative. And in this election the protest vote was the DSA guy. The unhappiness of the urban middle class is a million dollar bill lying on the sidewalk, but none of the main political parties wants to pick it up.

My view that Mamdami's win was mostly about middle class struggling with NYC affordability is from the Wall Street Journal's piece from two days ago: http://archive.today/jkCbV
