The idea of "black and brown people" sticking together in a coalition was always doomed to fail, especially as the foreign population increased. You need to be a worshiper of the cult of civil rights to believe that and no one born abroad worships at that altar. I came to the US as a child and inspite of 9 years of indoctrination in US schools, it is still weird to me. Most countries celebrate one revolution, one founding, one independence day, one set of heroes. It was obvious to me from the beginning that the civil rights movement as taught in schools was in some ways a competing founding story. It's just become really obvious in recent years.

First time I’ve heard anyone other than myself mention the obvious - Hispanic exodus to the GOP was in part driven by black fatigue and democratic slobbering over BLM. Many in the media miss this because Hispanics in the northeast are more black-coded - but once you leave the New York Tri state area that’s not at all applicable and as you move west the hostility outside of the college educated elite becomes overt. Republicans would be well served to remind Hispanic - and especially Mexican - men about democratic fealty to NBAs.
